Scope
This specification covers the construction requirements for low smoke, non-halogenated, TeJcoHyde™ 5221 insulated. power wire and cable. type RHHlLS for use in accordance with the National Electrical Code. The construction of the wire and cable is in accordance with Underwriters’ Laboratories requirements and the requirements of eSA for the FT4 flame tests.
Construction
Size: Sizes 8 AWG through 750 KCMIL • Single conductor.
Conductors: Class I (modified) bunched (8 and 6 AWG) and rope-bunched (4 AWG and larger) stranded tinned copper conforming to ASTM B-33 and Underwriters’ Laboratories requirements. An opaque mylar tape shall be applied over the conductor to facilitate stripping.
Insulation: 9Qoe rated limited smoke, non·haJogen, TelcoHyde™ 5221 conforming to Underwriters’ Laboratories Standard 44 and Telcordia Specification GR·347·CORE, also UL and eSA 105″C AWM rated. The insulation has a limiting oxygen index of 35%.
Surface Marking: Two sides of the cable shall be printed using an ink of contrasting color and with the following information: “TelcoFlex™ II/KS24194™ L2 NON-HAL (SIZE) AWG (OR KCMIL) 600V. RHH/LS FT4 (UL) OR AWM 3578 VW-1 E18321—A.I.W. CORP.—LL8825 CSA AWM I B 105°C 600V. FT4-ST1 (YEAR) (SEQ. FTG. ON 1 SIDE)”.
For sizes 1/0 AWG and larger add “FOR CT USE” before “(UL)”
Testing: Physical and electrical tests in accordance with UL Standard 44 requirements.
Labels: UL tags and labels shall be applied to each reel.
